Thoughts on Indian Independence Day 1

India is a country made by the British and in 1947, India slipped from under the jackboot of British Imperialism to under the jackboot of Bania Comprador Hindi Imperialism.

As a Bengali I hold Congress responsible for partitioning the country and initiating a series of anti-Bengali measures.68% of the political prisoners in Andamans were Bengalis. And the Bengalis were screwed for this sacrifice by

- Partition.

- No refugee rehabilitation.

- Freight equalization.

- Concentration of Financial Sector in Western India.

- License Permit Raj.

- Reduction in share of taxes for Bengal.

- Destruction of Jute Industry.

- Hindi imposition .

It is time we, Bengalis from the Indian side, realize that India has continued the colonial exploitation of Bengal. Did you know that the Constitution of India is about 65% copied from The Government of India Act, 1935?

For a long time now I don't celebrate Indian Independence Day and the Republic Day. How has India treated us? Assam has had a history of anti Bengali riots-what has India done to stop that. Under the NRC about 19 lakh people were thrown off the citizenship rolls. Out of these about 17 lakhs were Bengalis (11 lakh Bengali Hindus and 6 lakhs Bengali Muslims).

We Bengalis need to learn from History and realise that the best model for India is a decentralized governance with states rights to most of the powers. Center should have defence, foreign affairs, currency and protection of minorities. All the other powers should be at the State level. This was the Cabinet Mission plan which Jawaharlal Nehru sabotaged. Hindi imperialism is poisoning our cultural landscape. Bengalis, recognize the facts of the exploitation and stop drinking the Kool Aid of how India is a sempiternal country!
